The ARK is where Resident Evil Requiem stops holding your hand. Grace runs thin on healing items, the corridors fold back on each other, and a small wall safe sits behind a door you cannot open yet. Here is the monitor control room safe code RE9 hands you, on every difficulty, plus the route in and the three items waiting inside.
The short answer: on Casual and both Standard settings, the dial opens with Left 50, Right 60, Left 80. Insanity uses a different set: Right 20, Left 0, Right 70. Inside you get a Bottle of Acid, a Med Injector, and an Empty Bottle. Reaching the room needs the Magnetic Key.
| Detail | Answer |

Key takeaways
- One combination covers three of the four difficulty settings. Only Insanity differs.
- The codes are fixed. Nothing is randomized per save file, so the numbers above work for everyone.
- You can spin the dial straight away. Finding the note first is optional.
- The Bottle of Acid inside is the real prize, not the healing item.
- Miss it, and you are reloading an old manual save, because there is no chapter replay.
Where the Monitor Room sits inside the ARK

This is a late-game safe. You reach it during Grace’s stretch inside the ARK, well past the Care Center and its basement, in the block of rooms that ring the facility’s central chamber. Look for a lobby with red paint across the floor. That is the landmark most players remember.
Capcom shipped Resident Evil Requiem on February 27, 2026, for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X, and Switch 2, and the layout is identical on all of them. Nothing about the room changes with your platform.
Guides describe the safe’s exact spot two different ways. PowerPyx tells you to inspect a monitor on the right-hand side of the room. PCGamesN puts it on a desk at the far end. Both descriptions point at the same small room, so walk in and sweep the right wall and the back desk. You will find it in about ten seconds either way.

How to reach the room
- Keep playing the ARK section until the story gives Grace the Magnetic Key.
- Head back upstairs to the typewriter, next to the save point and storage box.
- Use the key on the red door beside it.
- Step into the lobby with the red floor paint.
- Take the first green door on your left.
That green door is easy to walk past. The lobby has several exits, and the game does not flag this one, so count the doors rather than trusting the minimap.
A note on the dial itself. The numbers are small, and the room is dark. Plenty of players overshoot a stop, then wonder why the handle will not turn. Push the in-game brightness up a notch before you blame your screen, though our equipment guides for displays are there if the panel really is the weak link.
Entering the combination without fumbling it
Each entry is a stop, and direction matters as much as the number. Left 50 means turning the wheel left until the marker lands on 50. Reverse to the right for 60. Then back left for 80. Overshoot a stop by a single notch and the handle stays put.
Two habits save time. Turn slowly on the last stop, because the wheel carries a little momentum past where you release it. And if the safe refuses twice running, back out of the interaction and start clean rather than nudging the marker.
The monitor control room safe code RE9 uses on each difficulty
Resident Evil Requiem ships with four difficulty settings: Casual, Standard (Modern), Standard (Classic) and Insanity. Three of them share one combination. Insanity is the outlier.
| Difficulty | Combination |
| Casual | Left 50, Right 60, Left 80 |
| Standard (Modern) | Left 50, Right 60, Left 80 |
| Standard (Classic) | Left 50, Right 60, Left 80 |
| Insanity | Right 20, Left 0, Right 70 |
You will not stumble into the Insanity version by accident on a first run. Insanity unlocks only after you finish the game once, so anyone reading this mid-campaign wants the top three rows.
Why some guides publish only one combination
Cross-check four of the major write-ups and a split shows up fast. All four agree on Left 50, Right 60, Left 80. Only two of them mention that Insanity swaps the numbers.
- PowerPyx lists both, and gives Right 20, Left 0, Right 70 for Insanity.
- PCGamesN lists both, with the same Insanity numbers.
- TheGamer prints one code and never raises the difficulty question.
- GamerGuides does the same.
Two other traps hide in that comparison. Guides number this safe differently, as safe four in some lists and safe five in others, which makes cross-referencing codes risky if you are jumping between tabs. And the difficulty labels get shortened to “Standard” so often that Classic players assume they need a fourth code. They do not.
What is inside, and why the acid bottle matters

Three items, and one of them carries far more weight than it looks:
- Bottle of Acid, a crafting and puzzle consumable.
- Med Injector, straightforward healing.
- Empty Bottle, used for crafting and for distracting enemies.
The acid is the reason to bother. Puzzle locks later in the ARK eat through it. You want a spare in hand before the Bioweapon Repository 5 sequence, where roughly six Lickers stand between Grace and the exit. Arriving there without one means a long walk back.
Do not write off the Empty Bottle either. Thrown glass pulls infected off your path, which matters in corridors too narrow to sprint past anything.
Is it missable?
Yes. Resident Evil Requiem has no chapter select and no free roam after the credits. Every collectible and every safe in the game sits behind that limitation, so once the story moves Grace on, this room is gone for that playthrough.
Your workaround is old-fashioned. Keep a manual save at the ARK typewriter, and treat those saves as your chapter select. The No Safe is Safe trophy asks you to open all five safes in the main story. Anyone chasing it should save that way by habit, not as a rescue plan.
Time is the argument here. The Bureau of Labor Statistics tracks how Americans spend their day. Its 2024 American Time Use Survey, released on June 26, 2025, puts the daily average for playing games and using a computer for leisure at 34 minutes. Twenty minutes lost retracing the ARK swallows most of a session.

FAQs
It does. The monitor control room safe code RE9 gives you on Insanity is Right 20, Left 0, Right 70, and it will not accept the standard numbers.
No. They are the same for everyone on a given difficulty, and they do not reroll when you start a new file.
No. The game does not gate the safe behind its file. Enter the numbers, and it opens, whether or not you have picked up the note that lists them.
Near the safe it belongs to, as with every safe in the game. Once you grab it, the combination stays readable in the Files menu.
Five across the main story, all of them found while playing as Grace.
You have overshot a number. Reset the dial and enter the three stops again, slowly, in the stated left-and-right order.
